Ranch News
Spring 2012
Lots of winter moisture has helped make our
pastures lush and green. We’ve planted 800 trees all over the ranch.
We have 12 healthy foals on the ground so far, the best looking crop
of foals in years! RC is going to be featured in an upcoming issue of
the Chronicle of the Horse and The Horse Connection magazine.

C-Aqua Tom, by Cimarron of Rancho Corazon, was announced this past weekend as the USEA Area 2 Horse of the Year. He finished 12th at Planation Fields FEI CIC** with only 4 seconds over optimum but no stops, and finished at the very tough Fair Hill International Championship CCI** with no stops.
C-Aqua Tom will be making the move up to Advanced this spring.

Hi Betty, I am Amanda Pollack. I own Hannah or Hortensia. I was just emailing you to let you know how great of a horse she is. Hannah has truly been a life saver, guardian angel, and the best horse anyone could own. On a daily basis she is ready to work, and really wants to do her job. She is smart and friendly, and has a really caring personality. She may not grow the best tail and mane, but that's ok. Everything else makes up for it.
Well, this year was our last year competing together as a team. I bought a new horse, Avacon, from Alison Kroff earlier this summer, and now that school has started, I only have time for my new horse. :( But Hannah and I went out with a bang. This season we won every class in Tuscon during Hits. At least our first week. I was champion in both the High Childrens Jumpers and Mod. Jr. Jumpers. We won that classic for the Mo Jams too! In the rain. The second week we were champions in the High Childrens and got 4th in the Modified Junior Jumpers. Then at Sandia Classics we were Champion in the Modified Junior Jumpers, winning practically all our classes. We also won the Children's Classic the 2nd week. The 1st week we got 6th :/ I was off. Then we were off to Colorado, where we saw you. We were champions in the children's both weeks, and reserve the Mo Jams the first week. The second week in the Mo Jams I was half a point out of the reserve. But our classic's out there were awesome. The first week I was leading the class, till Amanda McConnell went in with a bigger stridded horse, and we took second. But the next we we visited the winners circle winning the class by seconds!!
Hannah is so quick and handy its not even funny! Colorado was great for us. She was jumping excellent all through the year! Then we had our last show in California. It was not our best, I was a little emotional and could have done a better job. But we were still very successful. We got fourth in the Children's Classic both weeks. The modified junior classic I goofed so we had rails. But California was still amazing!
Hannah has been amazing. She is still jumping well (at a lower fence height,) but she is the best teacher and horse anyone could have. I am so fortunate to have had the chance to ride her. I truly owe all my riding skills to that horse. You created a masterpiece, and I am so sad not be her rider anymore. It breaks my heart just looking back at our past together.
These were only this years results, and we have made almost $3000 this year. I know that is not a lot to you all with your dozens of horses and being gone so much, but with me being tied to school (shucks) I feel like that is pretty good. Last year we made over $3000.
So I hope the approvals went well! So bummed I missed them, but I could not leave, Elani and I had a private, and there was no way I could reschedule or miss. So I hope to come down soonish and see all the little babies! I will send you some photos from Cali and Colorado too! I haven't plugged in my camera yet.

My What Big Studs You Have
You might think jumping fences measuring up to 5'3" high and 6" wide to be a tough enough task. Factor in trying to have the fastest time on course while leaving all the rails in place. Then allow for visual distractions such as sponsors' banners, fence decorations, potted plants hiding sprinkler heads, Mini Coopers and Ford F350s NOT to be jumped. Add a merry crowd enjoying a catered lunch under a huge white tent set at ringside. Last, but hardly least, picture a course set on sloping terrain with a grass surface made slippery with rain. The 2009 Grand Prix de Santa Fe provided a true test of horsemanship.
