Rancho La Querencia means "favorite place". It is an oasis in the Rio Grande Valley south of Albuquerque. Herds of Holsteiner horses graze in the lush pastures, the same horses you see grazing in big green pastures along the North and Baltic Seas half a world away. The horses, breeding, and training are direct from Europe; the blue sky, huge cottonwoods, and purple mountain ranges are New Mexico at its best.

During the last 27 years the large farm has produced numerous Hunter, Jumper, Dressage and Eventing Champions. Columbus (deceased), the flagship stallion of RLQ, is ranked FIRST on the 2004 USEF Leading Stallions in Eventing! In 2005 he was ranked third. Among his Champion offspring are: Cabochon, Castille, Castolon, Courchevel, Chamonix, Cimarron, Capoeira, Corcel, Mackinaw, Glorieta, Esmeralda, Cadillac, Christophe, Jolie, Nova, Hortensia, Crusoe, Jesimbria, Loretta, Crescent, Jass and many more.

ALL OF OUR HORSES ARE RAISED IN BIG PASTURES AND HAVE GALLOPED ON HARD GROUND SINCE BIRTH. THIS IS WHAT PRODUCES LONG-LASTING SOUNDNESS. NEVER BUY HORSES WHICH HAVE BEEN RAISED IN SMALL PADDOCKS, PENS, OR STALLS. THEY WILL NEVER STAY SOUND.

At Rancho La Querencia, special care is taken when starting young horses. You will love riding these horses who are always in self-carriage, round, forward, and so light in hand. Come and try them!
